Women (and men) who have different styles struggle to have
maximum impact, to have the desired level of responsibility,
and to achieve their greatest potential.
While teams with diverse perspectives drive creativity, they
also take time to manage. As a result, most leaders eventually
resort to a team of leaders who look a lot like themselves.
Frustration and lack of guidance results in women leaving the
organization. This is not just an issue for women, it applies
equally to others with different styles and backgrounds.
Three things need to change:
1) Women (and men) need to learn skills that help them manage their
careers and get the best out of their interactions with others while
staying true to themselves.
2) Leaders need to learn how to coach & develop talent with very different perspectives without taking enormous time.
3) Organizations need to insure that all talent has appropriate opportunities. |
